A. Josephine Coberly, 90, of Glenville entered into her heavenly home on Monday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by her family at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.

She was born on August 31, 1934, in Knapp, WV in Braxton County, to the late Lucile Sumpter Gerwig and Orville Gerwig.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her twin brother, Dane K. Gerwig; and her unborn grandson, Bryan Slaughter.

Jo was a graduate of Gassaway High School and she completed one extra year of secondary education concentrating on home economic classes. After high school she moved to Ohio and began working in Elyria as a secretary in an Agricultural Department. Her brother asked her to go on a blind, double date where she met her future husband and later married him on October 13, 1956. In February of the next year her husband entered the military, and by May he had finished Adjutant General’s School. Several months later she met him in Germany where he was stationed confirming her love for him, following him across the world. The two of them finally made their way back to the states where both their children were later born in Ohio. Her husband secured a job working for Mon Power and their family ended up in Glenville. Jo was a homemaker that loved to sew, knit, cook and garden. She enjoyed traveling in the car for trips in the autumn to see the changing landscape. She loved to garden both vegetables and flowers and enjoyed eating ramps. She was a cat, dog and horse lover. She was a current member and regularly attended Camden Flats Church, Glenville. She adored her family.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, Rolland Clark Coberly; daughters, Rolanna Gumm and husband, John P., of Glenville and Becky Slaughter and husband, Denzil, of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Landon Gumm and wife, Carissa, Michaela Moore and husband, Jessy, Larkin Slaughter and wife, Kate, Carrie Kipp and husband, David, Adrianna Wanstreet and husband, Tyler, and Deiland Slaughter and wife, Cara; five great grandchildren and two on the way; and two nephews.
