Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Nathan Tyler Shaffer, 30, of Flatwoods, WV passed away suddenly on Friday, March 20th, 2026. He was born October 11, 1995 in Weston, WV to his loving parents, Mike and Amy Browning Shaffer. Nathan graduated from Braxton County High School in 2014 and later went on to graduate from Pierpont C&TC in the lineman program with MonPower. He was a lineman by trade. Nathan lived and breathed the outdoors. If he wasn’t on the water snatching bass, he was in the woods chasing big bucks or looking for their shed antlers. He had a knack for everything outdoors. He knew everything there was to know about every deer he had on his trail camera and what he had named them, where and when he found a deer shed from 10 years ago, what color every single fishing bait was in his tackle box, or where to find the big bass on any local lake and what they were biting on. If you knew Nathan, you knew he was a vivid story teller and oh the stories he could tell. He could have you laughing before he even started the story. Nathan had a few loves of his life: Hunting, Fishing, his Skeeter bass boat and his wife Sierra Shaffer. They were married August 12th, 2023 and though their years together were cut very short, they shared enough love to last 100 lifetimes. In addition to his parents, Mike & Amy, wife, Sierra and her family, Nathan leaves behind many friends and family that loved him dearly: sister, Kristen Grose and her husband Jacob, brother Chad Lowers and his wife Alison, maternal Grandparents, Dairrell and Sally Browning, paternal grandparents, Orville and Patty Shaffer, maternal uncle Brandon Browning, paternal aunt Cindy Faulkner (Shaffer), his best good buddies since early childhood Dustin Woodward and Chase Oney, his fellow linemen at the Gassaway line shop, and many other friends and cousins and the local fishing community. To know Nathan was to love him and he will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Nothing would mean more to Nathan than supporting the future generation of bass fishermen, so in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Bass Nation WV Youth in Nathan’s honor. If you choose to donate, checks can be made payable to BNWV Youth and given to Sierra Shaffer to turn in to the organization. Donations can also be made directly to the organization director Dana Brown through PayPal, Venmo or CashApp: PayPal-@DPBrown721 Venmo-Dana-Brown-197 Cash App-$bassinnitro Nathan’s visitation will be 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.
