Jean W. May, 81, of Gassaway, passed away February 9, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Jean was born May 24, 1934 in Braxton County a daughter of the late Carl G. and Marvel Rollyson Westfall.

She was a secretary for the WV Department of Highways and for J.C. Baker and Sons. She was a member of the Gassaway United Methodist Church. She taught at a one room school and also taught adult classes. Jean enjoyed yard sales, reading, cooking and going to the beach. She loved her cat, George.

Jean was preceded in death by son, Greg May; daughter, Joni Kay May; brother, Jim Westfall.

She is survived by two sons, John May and Jimmy Gene May both of Gassaway; daughter, Jeanne Harris and husband, Dale of Gassaway; brothers, Robert Westfall of Bloomingdale, OH and Steve Westfall of Ripley, WV; three sisters, Mary Ann Taffer and Karen Sue Smith both of Gassaway and Sharon Sands of South Port, NC; grandchildren, Eric, Jason and Ryan Harris, Nyssa Carroll, Christa Lanagan, Joni May and Moriah James; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Per Jean’s request her body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Rodney England officiating.

Visitation will be two hours prior to memorial service.
