Let it be known that Shirley Ann Orndorff Phillips finished her labors of love and entered eternal life on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Born September 18, 1940 in Green Bank, WV, Shirley was the daughter of the late Ray and Anna Lou Myers Orndorff; beloved wife of Jack L. Phillips; devoted mother to David Phillips (Debbie), Jeffrey Phillips, and Andrea Moon; dedicated grandmother to Ryann Phillips Spencer (Clinton), Corri Phillips, Trevor Moon, Griffin Moon; great grandmother to Sawyer Spencer, Myles Spencer, Easton Spencer and Parker Spencer; cherished sister of Carol Schardine, Rosella Wooddell, Ramona Arnold, and loving aunt of several nieces and one nephew.

Shirley was a Glenville State College cum laude graduate with graduate work completed at West Virginia University.  She taught 5th grade at Davis Elementary, was librarian at Gassaway High School, and Braxton County High School Library Media Specialist for 30 years.  She held membership in Zeta Beta Tau Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, WV School Librarians Association, charter member of WV Library Media Technology Specialists, honored with the distinction of WV Media Specialist of the Year, member of WV Federation of Teachers and AFT, and served for 15 years as a Gassaway Public Library Board Member.  Since 1961, her church has been the Gassaway United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, Kindergarten through 8th grade for many years.
