Michael Stephen Byrne, 75, of Gassaway, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

He was born on August 8, 1948, in Gassaway to the late Benjamin H. Byrne and Marium Pletcher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Carter Lanham Byrne.

Mike graduated from Gassaway High School in 1966. In 1968 he graduated with an associate degree in Electronics from WVU Tech at Montgomery. Mike worked as a Laboratory Machine Technician for many years. He worked briefly for Lowes in Charleston, as a sous chef for a local restaurant and did odd jobs for people in his Gassaway community. Mike also did volunteer work for the Gassaway Days Festival. He was methodical and technically minded.

He is survived by his brothers, Timothy Byrne and wife, Connie, of Charleston, Jonathan Andrew Byrne and wife, Mary, of Crossville, Tennessee, Charles Eric Byrne and wife, Janis Diane, of Jane Lew, Jeffery David Byrne and wife, Dana, of Steeplechase, Texas; sister, Jennifer Floyd, and husband, Robert, of Buckhannon; stepson, Brian Lanham of Raleigh, North Carolina; step grandchildren, Lindsey Lanham of Richmond, Virginia and David Lanham of Roanoke, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services.
