Bonnie Gay Brady Bender, 94, of Gassaway went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 30, 2024 with family by her side.

She was born January 26, 1930 in Gassaway to the late Richard E. Brady and Dora Hughes Brady.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Richard Bender; her husband, Joel Henry Bender; brothers, Richard E. “Jr.” Brady, Evan Brady, and Dennis Brady; and sisters Mary Grey Luikart and Ruth Six.

She was member of Richmond Chapel Church where for many years she held several roles. She loved her Lord Savior. She had a helping heart and would feed anyone. You would never meet a kinder soul. Taking care of her farm and family were her top priorities. She reveled in being a wife, mother and grandmother. Bonnie was a gardener and she enjoyed visits from her hummingbirds. She loved to can, especially jam and jelly to go on her famous Bender biscuits. Bonnie read anything she could get her hands on and she was a history buff. An avid supporter of WVU sports, she knew all the players names and all their stats. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.

Bonnie’s funeral will be 2 P.M. Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Rick Hart officiating.

Interment will follow in the Richmond Chapel Cemetery, Gassaway.
