Burial Date March 1, 2024

His funeral will be 1 P.M. Friday, March 1, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway with Pastors Jim Criner and Lester “Buddy” Lemon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.

Punk’s visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to his church, Little Otter Community Church, P.O. Box 124, Gassaway, WV 26624.

Special thanks to his church family, all their friends and WV Caring Hospice.

Alton Dale “Punk” Patrick, 85, of Tunnel Fork, Gassaway passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at WV Caring Hospice Center, Elkins.

He was a New Year’s Eve baby born, December 31, 1938, to the late George Irving Patrick and Elvie Josephine Perrine Patrick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Birchard, Eugene, Harold, Bill and Ray; and sisters, Kathleen Stewart, Pat Nottingham, Grace Hatch, Jewell Porter, “Boots” McLaughlin and Claudine Dennison.

Punk enjoyed his life with his wife and many friends. He liked to fish. He was an antiques and old coin collector. Everyone would save their coins for him to check their worth. Punk was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways Bridge Crew. He was an active member of Little Otter Community Church until he was not able to go to church. He served others and the Lord as Sunday School Teacher and Lay Speaker at the church. He and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 22nd of this year. The staff at the Hospice Center helped them to celebrate with a cake and ice cream. Punk also enjoyed listening to gospel singers. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, “Skinny” Patrick and several nieces and nephews.
