Glen “Pappy” Nicholas, 76, of Frametown went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  He was born on January 28, 1947 in Wilsie.

He was met at Heaven’s gate by his parents, Harry Scott Nicholas and Cotha Carr Nicholas; his wife, Lillie Mae Johnson Nicholas; his sisters, Elsie “Sue” Buchanan and Grace Gooch; brother, Charles Nicholas; brothers-in- law, James “Jim” Buchanan and Gene Gooch; and his niece, Suzie Wilmoth.

Glen was a 1964 graduate from Gassaway High School. He volunteered to join the United States Air Force in 1965.  In 1967 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon before his honorable discharge in 1969.

He was a devoted member of the Belfont Simpson Church for nearly 50 years.  His relationship with God was always evident to those around him. He loved his little white church and his wonderful church family.

Glen retired from Pletcher Pontiac after 20+ years of service. After retirement, he was able to resume volunteering at the Frametown Fire Department, of which, he was a founding member. He had much pride and joy in the department and its members who quickly became part of his “fire family”. Even though he was unable to go out on calls, he remained very active with the department and seldom missed a meeting. At the time of his passing, he was the Assistant Fire Chief.

Glen led a life of service, sacrifice and devotion to his family, country, church and community. When asked, “What made him decide to resume firefighting?”  he replied, “A lot of the members work and can’t always leave for a call; I saw a need and I could fill it.”

He will be missed by all three of his families, friends and neighbors. Glen touched the lives of each person he walked with in this life.

Left to cherish his memory are his six children; Patty Davis Chapman, Mike Davis and wife, Bernie; Linda Davis Jackson and husband Jack; Deborah Davis Rymer and husband, Stanley; Nickey Nicholas Collins and husband Brian; Austin Glen “AG” Nicholas II and wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, and several cats.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday, March 20, 2023 at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV.
