Shorty’s funeral service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Tom Harper officiating. Interment will follow in the Beall’s Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.

Visitation will be four hours prior to the service at the funeral home, starting at 10 A.M.

A special thanks to all of the caregivers at Kanawha Hospice for their compassionate care of Shorty.

Shorty (Orlando Lee) Rader, a lifelong resident of Gassaway, went home to be with Jesus after a long struggle with A.L.S.

He passed away peacefully, at his home, on Saturday, July 9, 2022 with his loving wife and family at his bedside.

Shorty was born in Gassaway on January 12, 1950 to the late Tink and Lola Bender Rader.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Shorty loved life and his hometown and always worked to better his community. He loved serving God and his church family. After graduating Gassaway High School in 1967, he was a barber for twenty years, then went on to own and operate Sports connection, which he truly loved, for over thirty years.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Sherry; daughter, Sherri Jack (Lane); grandson, Trey; daughter, Karri Jo Rousset (Ric); granddaughter, Adrianna; son, Kenneth Browning (Trina); grandsons, Kyle and Jakob; brother, Fred Rader (Bernice) and several nieces and nephews.
