His funeral service will be 1 P.M. Monday, October 11, 2021 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Dennis Shaver officiating.  Interment will follow in the Stout Cemetery, Flatwoods.

Lawrence Allen Shaver I, 75, of Flatwoods passed away on Thursday October 7, 2021 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital from an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

He was born October 15, 1945 in Flatwoods at home to the late Virgil and Mary Jane Tonkin Shaver.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Willard Shaver; and his sister, Evelyn Brown.

Lawrence served in the Army National Guard for six years.  On December 22, 1972 he married the love of his life, Neda.  He was a mechanic for 41 years for Pletcher Pontiac.  He enjoyed farming with his son.  He had an orchard and could graft trees.  He also was a beekeeper.  Anyone that knew Lawrence understood that he was passionate about the weather.  One of his hobbies was hunting.  He was an ingenious Jack of All Trades.  Lawrence was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Neda Wayne Shaver; son, Allen Shaver and wife, Michelle; daughters, Sherry Cowling and husband, Joe and Ashley Given and husband, Jamie, all of Sutton; grandchildren, Keturah Riffle and husband, Dakota, Malachi Cowling, Andrew McCallister, Owen McCallister and Bailey McCallister, Carly Given and Reese Given; great grandchildren Zekiah and Kian Riffle; brothers Dana Shaver, Argil Shaver and Richard Shaver and wife, Janice; sisters, Mildred Wine, Rebecca Boyd and husband, John, Yvonda Westfall and Shirley Ransom. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
