Bertha’s funeral will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV with Evangelist Clinton Nottingham officiating.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Sirk Cemetery, Duck.

Bertha Janet Sirk, 86, of Strange Creek, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV.

She was born at home on June 9, 1934 at Strange Creek to the late Charley and Vera Johnson Nottingham.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl William Sirk; brothers, Fred Nottingham, Ferrell Nottingham, Johnny Nottingham, and Danna Nottingham; sisters, Marie Duffield, Mae Mix, Mabel Westbrook, and Mamie Sears.

“The dancing Granny” as many called her loved to sing, dance and play the guitar.  She enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music.  She also liked to hike in the woods and work her vegetable garden.  She was a homemaker and a Christian by faith.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Roger Sirk and Richard Sirk, both of Strange Creek; daughters, Susan Albright and husband, Tony, of Beckley and Tammy Williams and husband, Jeff,  of Strange Creek; brother, Brantie Nottingham and wife, Minnie, of Strange Creek; sisters, Laura Harold of Haddock, GA and Lona Sanders of Garrettsville, OH; grandchildren, Chad Nettles, Catrina Weidensall, Chauntelle Marcum, Codie Nettles, Caleb Nettles, Matthew Albright, Josh Carr, and Phillip Samples.  She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
