Debra Sue (Knight) Cooke, 63, of Gassaway, WV, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her home.  She was born January 31, 1958 to the late Roy and Vivian Knight.

Debbie was a 1975 graduate of Braxton County High school, graduating a year early, where she was a proud member of the band, stealer of her brother’s long tube socks, and surrounded by many friends.

She was loved by all that knew her.  She didn’t know a stranger and would gladly give her last dollar to someone who needed it.  If she knew you, you were family to her.  She spoke her mind, which was usually a funny or sarcastic comment.  She especially loved to brag and love on her granddaughters, Madison and Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Cooke and parents, Roy and Vivian Knight.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Melissa Kennedy and husband, Rex; granddaughters, Madison and Brooklyn Kennedy; long-time companion, Bob Marrs; brothers, Tom Knight and Steve Knight and wife, Donna; sister, Kristy Johnson and husband, Ben; aunt, Sharon Greenleaf; uncle, Ed McCauley and wife, Becky; nieces, Sarah Johnson, Emily Bateson, Allison Johnson, Amber Johnson, Jessica Gibson; and several great-nieces, a great-nephew, numerous cousins, and life-long best friend, Sue Hardway.

In keeping with Debra’s wishes she will be cremated.

Her memorial service will be 2 P.M. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV.

Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Words of comfort and fond memories may be extended to the family at www.roachfuneralhome.com.
