Some people walk this earth in such a profound way that their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Mary Helen Jenkins, age 83, of Glenville, WV, gained her wings and joined her beloved husband in heaven on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Mary was born on June 13, 1937 to Jacob and Mamie Mowery in Gilmer County, WV.

On September 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Jenkins and they raised their family in Perkins, WV on a farm very dear to both of their hearts.

Mary was a loving person whose passion was caring for others. She raised ten children on their farm in Perkins and despite her large family she always had room in her heart for everyone. Many conversations with Mary would often lead to her boasting of how proud she was of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.

You could often find Mary at home preparing a hot meal for Jimmie, tending house or simply relaxing on the porch, enjoying the home she loved so much.

She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire and battling any willing participant in a game of dominos.

Mary is survived by her children, Charlie (Odie) Jenkins of Fairview, WV, Barb (James) Hacker of Normantown, WV, Debra Brown, Ellen Cappellety of Glenville, WV, Patricia Layman of Moorefield, WV, Robert Jenkins of Watertown, SD, Roger (Kristin) Jenkins of Roseville, OH, David (Chrystal) Jenkins of Ripley, WV, Tommy (Kim) Jenkins of Glenville, WV, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren , great-great grandchildren, and friends and family.  She is also survived by her brother, Clayton Mowery of Big Bend, WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband and soul mate, Jimmie Jenkins; one daughter, Hazel Admire; four brothers and two sisters.

Mary’s viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

In keeping with Mary’s wishes she will be cremated following services.
