I am so sorry to hear of Karen's passing - I worked with Karen in the 70's at General Glass Company. My husband and I spent time with her and Randell and had many happy hours together. She and Randell had the most gorgeous fish tank (and fish) which she later sold to me when she left and returned home to Braxton County. I was expecting my first daughter (1976), Karen was expecting her first daughter, Heather, and Linda was expecting. Karen had an infectious smile and I can still see her glowing from her pregnancy. We were all so excited about our babies. Always wondered about her through these years and always think of her as I travel up interstate wondering where she would be up in that neck of the woods. Wonderful memories!

We were so shocked to hear about Karen's passing. Our sincere condolences go out to Pam and Mike and their families as well as Karen's family and friends. When we moved to Sutton in 1960, Karen was 4 years old, cute as a button and told me that she had a boyfriend named "Thumper!" She would say, "me did this and me went wherever, etc., " and I thought she was soooo cute!! Pam was always with Karen and I really loved having these little girls living next to me. I recall helping Pam learn to twirl a baton but am not sure if Karen participated. It seems a few months later, Mike came along. I had always loved children and babies; so, I loved this sweet family. Over the many years, I have tried to stay in touch with their dear mother, Jean until her death. Since Jean's death, Pam and I communicate fairly regularly and she would fill me in about Karen and Mike and their families. Now on FB, it has been great seeing everyone and their extended families. I will continue to dwell on the happy times I had with Karen, Pam and Mike and pray that all of you will do the same. I so wish I could be there for the Visitation and the Funeral of this "very special lady" and all of her family; however, health issues will not permit at this time. My Aunt Karen will always be known in my heart as one of the "coolest" and wonderful women I have known in my life. I have years & years of memories of both Karen & Randell. Millions of memories all happy, funny, crazy, and even sad ones. I could never express how much she meant to me from early in life but these are some of the most precious memories - Karen was the one who bought Leslie and I at Christmas & birthdays cool stuff like finger nail polish, mood rings, perfume, make-up and cool girly stuff back in the days where you usually got PJ's, socks, and underwear from your close relatives as gifts. She was such an awesome cook- I remember making hard candy & her specialty chocolate PB balls with her. I remember working on Grandma & Grandpa Short's farm putting up hay with Karen & Randell. Karen driving the old red tractor and us trying to stay atop the wagon full of hay bales (rectangle ones - not the new giant round ones!) as she drove through ruts to get to the barn! I remember staying in Charleston when they lived on Montrose Drive and Karen was pregnant with Heather. I remember because Karen was always craving chocolate frosty's from Wendy's and Randell would have to go get them. Not to mention the super cool Parana's they kept in a fish tank and fed live gold fish to!!! I remember how proud of and how she loved all three of her kids. I also remember the beautiful and loving way she cared for Randell those last years, and how happy I was when she found new love and happiness with Brad later in her very young life. My heart breaks with sadness, but I know Karen & Randell are back together whooping it up, fishing, camping, and reconnecting. I love you Karen Short and always will.
