Elisha “Lash” Calvin Burnside, 75, of Duck passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 1, 2026.

He was born on April 16, 1951, in Big Otter to the late Russell Burnside and Maysel James Burnside.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; and grandson, CJ Rose.

Lash was employed and retired from Asplundh after over 25 years of service. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being around his children and grandchildren. An avid gardener, he worked and was very proud of his several vegetable gardens and his lawn. He had an awesome work ethic. Lash never knew a stranger.

He is survived by his children, Tommy Burnside, Careena Helmick ( Shawn), Andrea Lanton (Quinn), Holly Harris, Danny Jarvis (Jennifer), Billy Jarvis, Jerry Rogers, Dalelynn Rose, Mark Burnside and Sonja Herwick ; wife, Missy Burnside; grandchildren, Shawn Micheal Calvin Helmick, Chrislynn Dawn Marie Helmick, Ross, Hailey and Alex Lanton, Kayla Furby, Brandon Waugh, and Breanna Coy, Jayla and Ethan Jarvis, Nisa Rose, Elisha and Damien Burnside, and Lance Herwick ; several great grandchildren; siblings, Carles Burnside (Vicky), Elijah Burnside (Brenda), and Helen Harmer; and several nieces and nephews.

Lash’s visitation will be noon to 2 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV.

His funeral will be held 2 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

The burial will follow in Burnside Family Cemetery, Pennsboro, WV.
