Arabelle Marks, 95, of Crooked Fork, Gassaway, passed away at home on Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 26, 1928, in Braxton County to the late Clyde Euphrates Stump and Priscilla Annie Dobbins Stump.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Leonard Clay Marks; infant son, Monroe; and nine siblings.

Arabelle was a homemaker that raised her seven children, grandchildren and foster children. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family. She and Leonard were farmers. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She liked to can from the harvest. Arabelle loved piecing and hand quilting. She avidly watched and fed birds at her home and enjoyed caring for and feeding the dog and cat. She was a Baptist by faith.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sandra Kay Estep, Mary Ellen Browning, Patsy Emolene White and her husband Jack, Margaret Elaine Sefchick and her husband Larry, and Ella Mae Reed; sons, Leonard Dale Marks and his wife Janice, and Roger Lynn Marks and his wife Sherri; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Arabelle’s funeral will be held 1 P.M. Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Ryan Skidmore officiating.

Burial will follow in the Crooked Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Perkins.

Her visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
