William Michael Slaughter, 64, of Gassaway passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at home.

He was born December 10, 1959, in Gassaway to the late William Martin Slaughter, Jr. and Betty Corine Murphy Slaughter Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great aunt, Lee Jewel Lockard.

Mikey was a member of the Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting rifles and pistols. He never met a stranger. He had a helpful heart and would help anyone in need. Watching science fiction shows on the television was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved taking care of their black labradors over the years. He had many friends that called him brothers.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of 26 years, Rebecca Slaughter, of Gassaway; uncle, Fred Slaughter (Brenda) of Gassaway; and various family members.

In keeping with Michael’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV 26624 to assist with funeral expenses.
