Alice Marie Reynolds, 68, of Gassaway passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV surrounded by her family.  

She was born in Sutton on October 10, 1955, to the late Vaden Freeman and Thelma Maxine Nicholson Freeman. 

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Thearl Clutter; daughter, Rebecca Ann McCartney; infant brother, Tommy J. Freeman; and brothers, Bobby Lee Freeman and James Edward “Bud” Freeman; and brother-in-law, Crawford Rayl. 

She was a homemaker to her family, but she was a caregiver out of the home for over 30 years.  She also worked as a cook for Braxton County School System in her earlier years.  Alice graduated from Sutton High School in 1975 and had many friends.  She was kindhearted and enjoyed talking to everyone.  She also was a big fan of listening to the radio.  

Left to cherish her memory are her children, William Dale Freeman, Larry Lee Freeman and Gary Lee Freeman and wife, Mary; siblings, Lola Jane Windon and husband, Wilbur, Junior Dale Freeman, Shirley Jane Rayl; sister-in-law, Annie Freeman; grandchildren, Raye-Ann Leigh Coffman, Samuel Lee Freeman, and Katherine Lynn Mullins; and her dog, Samantha. 

Marie’s funeral will be held 12 Noon on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Richie Propst officiating.   

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Chapel.  

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
