Hayward “Lucky” Lock Conrad, 85, of Glenville WV, husband of Audrey Conrad, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at Stone Haven nursing home in Belington WV.

Born January 28, 1938, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James Arthur and Lenora May Conrad. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Majestie, Ruth, Naomi, Deomia, James, Wilbert, and Robert.

After years of working at Ravenna Arsenal in Ravenna, Ohio, he was a driver for the Amish community in the Sugar Creek area of Ohio. He loved being around people and striking up conversations with everyone, never meeting a stranger.  He was a master of buying and reselling goods. He enjoyed going to auctions, playing bingo at the Glenville Senior Center, riding his four-wheeler, and playing the lottery.

Hayward had four children from a prior marriage and surviving are his daughters, Kathryn Lea Rode (Rob) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Florence Diana Ballew of Greenwood, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy E Conrad and a daughter Loretta Sobotka. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Hayward will be laid to rest beside his son at Locust Knob Cemetery in Burnsville, WV.
