Yvonne Marie Moore, 87, of Vale, NC went home to be with her Lord, Friday, July 15, after a sudden illness. Yvonne, known as Vonnie, to friends and family, was born December 28, 1934 to Homer B. and Elva Jane Walker at their home in Duck, WV.

She was a 1952 graduate of Gassaway High School. She was particularly proud that she typed the yearbook her senior year. Although primarily a homemaker,Vonnie held several different jobs throughout her life, including school cook and teacher’s aide at Servia Elementary School and later as a licensed CNA and then Central Sterile Tech at Gassaway Hospital, Gassaway, WV.

Yvonne was a member of Risen Church, Lincolnton, NC. She was devoted in her faith and wrote a devotional, “Good Thoughts for Everyday Living.” It was a compilation of everyday occurrences in her life used to illustrate a Biblical principle. She loved people and gave away more than she sold. She learned to crochet as a young person. It was a lifelong hobby. Although she sold a lot of her baby blankets, she made gifts of her scarves to countless people. She was admired by many for her generous spirit.

On August 9, 1952 she married John William Moore of Servia, WV. They were married 33 years before his passing in 1985. She was also predeceased by one grandson in 2003.
She is survived by two children, James L Moore, Duck,WV and Jeanette Kokochak, Vale, NC; three siblings, Jo Ann Truman, Servia, WV, Ella “Duke” May, of Big Chimney, WV and James A. Walker, Frametown, WV. Other surviving family members include seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
