Jimmie Andrew “Andy” Cook, 68, of Gassaway passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

He was born in Sutton on April 5, 1955, to the late Jimmie Andrew Cook, Sr. and Mary Nell Bragg Cook.

Andy was the epitome of an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing with his boys, hunting and sports. Often, he would grab his fishing boat and head to the water. He took immaculate care of his lawn. He reveled in being Papaw to his three grandchildren. Andy had a strong work ethic. He was a correctional officer at Central Regional Jail for 20 years and worked for Derrick Music in Gassaway for 20 years. He was a United States Army Veteran. Andy graduated from Braxton County High School in 1973. He played semi-pro football in the Army.

His memories will be forever remembered by his wife of 41 years, Lynn Calhoun Cook; sons, BJ Cook and wife, Jessica, and Heath Cook and wife, Megan, all of Gassaway; grandchildren, Kolton Heath Cook, Katie Lynn Cook and Ella Elaine Cook; sister, DeLesa Belknap and husband, Jack, of Charleston; nephew, Jimmy Belknap and wife, Amber, of Scott Depot; niece, Jodi Lucas and husband, Ben, of Charleston; sister-in-law, Alice James and husband, Steve, of Gassaway and their son, Isaac and wife, Sheri Wang, of Pittsburgh; special friends, Buster Gum, Herbie Ratliff, and Wayne “Newt” Shaver, and black Labradoodle, Daisy Doodle.
