Carol J. Carr, 93, of Elyria and Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, June 28, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born on July 30, 1932, on her family’s farm near Gassaway in Braxton County, West Virginia, Carol was the cherished daughter of James H. and Nellie Grace (Duffield) Lemon. Her country upbringing instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family that remained with her throughout her life.

In the early 1950s, Carol married the love of her life, John Bailey Carr. Together they built a home and raised their family in Northeast Ohio, where Carol dedicated herself wholeheartedly to being a loving wife, devoted mother, and homemaker. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Carol found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved losing herself in a good book, baking treats for family and friends, tending to her garden, and challenging herself with crossword puzzles. She had an especially tender heart for animals, particularly rescued cats, and was always willing to offer love and care to those in need.

Above all else, Carol treasured her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were forever enriched by her gentle spirit, warm hugs, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, caring heart, and the unwavering love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Bailey Carr; her son, James E. Carr; her daughter, Cindy L. Carr; and her siblings, Don Lemon, A. Jeanette Barath, Paul “Buss” Lemon, and Harry Lemon.

She is survived by daughters, Connie S. Carr, Dixie L. Carr-Heyn (Kurt); grandchildren, Jake Carr (Erin), Ryan Carr (Kassi), Julie Carr, Ginny Carr; great-grandchildren, Zach, Emily, Jillian, Jenna, James Maverick, Fletcher, Zeke and Cadence; brothers, Carl “Dick” Lemon of Mogadore, Ohio and Ben Lemon of Frametown, WV; sisters, Joy Veard of Amherst, Ohio, Sally Skidmore of Gassaway, WV, and Linda Boggs of Garrettsville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 A.M. till time of service at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV with Pastor Bill Hunt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lemon Cemetery near the Jerusha Church on Sugar Creek.

Carol’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and selfless devotion to her family. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her for generations to come.
