Rice, 84, of Richwood, WV passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born on January 10, 1942, in Duck, Clay County, WV to the late James Paintiff and Creasie Tanner Paintiff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Grover, Richard, Walt, Tom, Roy and Russell; and sisters, Blanche, Ruby, Stella, and Bettie. Bessie loved her family. She worked outside the home as a housekeeper at the former Richwood Nursing Home. One of her favorite pastimes was quilting. She was a Christian by faith. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Her graveside service will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Strange Creek with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating.
