In memory of Larry’s remarkable life, we invite loved ones to join us in celebrating his contributions to his family, friends, and community. Services will be held on June 17th, 2023 at noon. A memorial service will take place at The First Baptist Church of Collingswood, New Jersey followed by an inurnment with his beloved wife, Susie, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. All are welcome for food and fellowship upon returning to First Baptist Church of Collingswood afterward.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George “Larry” Johnson, on May 23, 2023. Born on October 23, 1948, Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Nik) Salvo and Jennifer Johnson; granddaughters Summer and Lily Nitsche, Alexis Uhl, and Susan Warren; grandson Kody Stillwagon; brothers Bruce (Deb) and Richard (Martha) Johnson; and sister Anne (Mike) Minnick. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan (Susie) Johnson; mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Johnson-DuCoin; father, George Irvin Johnson; and daughter Abigail Johnson.

A graduate of Collingswood High School in 1968, Larry dedicated much of his time to serving the community and his church, the First Baptist Church of Collingswood. Larry held numerous positions within the church, including Youth Leader, Church Council member, IHOC Homeless Outreach, Mission Board, Senior Bible Study Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. Additionally, he was a Youth Leader with AGAPE.

Larry had a diverse range of interests and favorites.  A proud fan of everything Philadelphia, he supported his hometown sports teams. Larry also took pleasure in researching genealogy.

Larry was best described as giving, charismatic, and hi-LARRY-ous. Larry leaves a legacy of love for Jesus Christ and all of his fellow mankind, which will continue to inspire those who knew him.
