Harry’s funeral service will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway with Reverend Ray Teets officiating.

The visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Nettles Family Cemetery, Elmira.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care at CAMC Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care of Harry.

Harry Dorn Nettles, 86, of Gassaway entered into the presence of the Lord Sunday, August 18, 2024 after a short illness.

He was born January 3, 1938, at Gip, a son of the late Donnie and Nannie (Stalnaker) Nettles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Given) Nettles; daughters, Vickie and Ruthie; sisters, Colene Wolfe and Lois Ganim; and brother, Halman Nettles.

Harry began his work career with the West Virginia Division of Highways and Dowell Incorporated at Glenville. He later owned a gas station and repair shop in Stewart Addition which he operated for many years. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Velma James of Frametown; siblings, Wanda Carter of Fairmont, Sharon Spiker of Cresent City, Florida, and Lehn Nettles of Nicut; and several nieces and nephews, many of whom cared for Harry through the years.
