Blaine Carroway Tyo was born on August 16, 2024, to Jacob and Brandi Tyo, and left this world peacefully in her parents’ arms on September 5, 2024, at 1:11 AM as they sang softly to her. Despite a diagnosis of Trisomy 13, Blaine defied the odds not only by making it to birth but by blessing those around her with twenty-one days of pure joy, love, and light.

From her first breath, Blaine touched the hearts of everyone who met her—family, friends, and caregivers alike. Through her soulful eyes and gentle perseverance through the occasional tense moment, she inspired gratitude, resilience, and a profound appreciation for the miracle of life. Blaine’s presence revealed the strength and grace in those around her, especially her mother’s unwavering dedication and her father’s boundless love, demonstrating that even the briefest lives can leave the deepest impact.

In a time when the world feels divided, Blaine brought people together in a remarkable way. The outpouring of love and support from the community became a pillar of strength for her family, guiding them through a loss too profound for words. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Matheny (Harriett), Amy Summers, Dr. Maxwell, Dr. Kwon, the devoted CAMC NICU nurses, and Roach Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support.

Blaine spent her final day surrounded by loved ones under the tranquil Appalachian sky, with a gentle breeze softly ruffling her golden hair. After the sun set in a brilliant display, Jacob and Brandi held her close, singing softly as she peacefully took her final breaths. Although her time with us was brief, Blaine’s presence was a profound gift, a reminder to carry forward the grace and love she embodied, ensuring her spirit continues to live on in the hearts she touched.

Blaine is survived by her great-grandparents Mike and Kate Claytor, Bill (Melody) Tyo, Linda Taylor, Connie Johnson, and Danny Spivey; her grandparents Frank “Billy” and Terri Tyo, Wendy (Jerry) Pettry, and Michael (Lesa) Means Jr.; her parents, Jacob and Brandi; her brother, Briggs; her aunts and uncles Tyler (Kayla) Means, Jessi (Joseph) Sampson, Jordan (Cole) Browning, and Ellie Tyo; and her cousins Cayden, Braylynn, Carson, Corey, and Colton Means, Percy and Lincoln Sampson, Emma, Beau, and Lyla Browning. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Maxine and Ernest King, Robert Johnson, Paul Taylor, and Michael Means Sr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, September 7, 2024 in the Tyo Cemetery, Gassaway, located above Forest Hills Estates. Her graveside service will follow at 3:30 P.M. with Reverend Mark Stump officiating at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations in her memory be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia, 910 Pennsylvania Ave, Charleston, WV 25302.
