Burial Date July 27, 2020

Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Monday, July 27, 2020 at Gassaway Baptist Church with Reverend John McQuain and Pastor Mark Stump officiating.  Interment will be in the Kniceley-McCray Cemetery, Flatwoods, WV.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mount Nebo Church, 1111 West Brock Rd., Hacker Valley, WV 26222

Betty Mae (Harris) Bright, 89 of Sutton, WV passed away at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family on Friday, July 24, 2020.

She was born June 13, 1931 in Heaters, WV, a daughter of the late Karl Dexter Harris and Angela Mae Gregory Harris.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, who died October 9, 1988, Darius Kermit Bright; brothers, William Harris, Karl Harris, Jr, and John Harris; sisters, Ruth Bragg, Alice Kniceley, Monna Bright, Phyllis Stalnaker, and Sharon Hudkins; granddaughters, Lynn Ann Rexroad and Christina McCumbers; son-in-law, James “Jamie” Williams.

After many years of service with the Braxton County Board of Education, Betty retired as a cook from Braxton County High School.  She was a Methodist by faith and enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel music.  Her family, extended family and friends were very important to her and she loved spending time with them.  She was a “Mom” to many and “Aunt Betty” to all.

Betty will be forever remembered by her son, Michael Bright and wife, Betty of Flatwoods; daughters, Marilyn Reynolds and husband, Dave, of Sutton and Marsha Rexroad and husband, Michael, of Gassaway; sister, Patricia Vanderworp and husband, Donald of St. Clair Shores, MI; brother, Delmas Harris and wife, Judy, of Sutton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wilber and Marge Cutlip of Hacker Valley; sister-in-law, Jean Bright of Sutton.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody Bright and wife, Dawn, of Inverness, FL, David Beam of Morgantown, Amber Violett and husband, PJ, of Maryville, TN, Jerad Williams and wife, Bethany, of Sutton, Matthew Williams and wife, Amanda, of Glenville, Amanda Jones and husband, Jeremy, of Jane Lew, Jason Reynolds and wife, Dorothy of Enan Valley, PA, and Chris Reynolds and wife, Heather, of Canfield, OH  OH, Leslie Toppings and husband, Bobby, of Glenville, Barbara Myers and husband, Bo, of Gassaway; and grandson-in-law, Charles McCumbers of Frametown.  Betty was also blessed with 28 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
