Evelyn Drake passed in the early morning of January 1, 2025, in Plano, Texas. She was born July 28, 1930, to James Pearly and Lola Whytsell Roberts in Marion County, West Virginia. Evelyn married Wade Cutlip in 1946, gave birth to a daughter, Renna, in 1949 and became a widow in 1957. She then married James Drake in 1958, and they owned a family business in Flatwoods, West Virginia with Eldred “Toehead” Drake for many years. They adopted a daughter, Barbara, in 1963. After retiring, Evelyn and James moved to Texas in 1992 to be close to their daughters and grandchildren.

Evelyn enjoyed traveling to England and Germany with Renna. She enjoyed family reunions and road trips to see her siblings in Ohio and West Virginia. Word Search books were always by her chair.

Evelyn is survived by daughters, Renna Carrico (Richard) of Plano and Barbara Morrison (Bryan) of Clarksburg, West Virginia. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren are Todd Carrico (Jennifer) of Melissa, Texas; Bryan Carrico of Plano, Texas; Tyler Jolliff (Katie) of Northglenn, Colorado; Hunter Jolliff of Corinth, Texas; and Katy Schmidt (Daniel) of Ingleside, Texas. She had six great grandchildren: Matthew Carrico, Blake Carrico, Laura Carrico, Luke Carrico, Andrew Carrico and Erin Casas. Siblings, Earlene Roberts Lawson of Sutton, WV and Lola “Maxine” Roberts Hubbard of Racine, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Adrain Roberts, Eunice Roberts Rose, Glenda Roberts Poole, Iva Jean Roberts Rose, Ruby Roberts Cutlip, Jimmy Roberts Jr., Gail Roberts, Bonnie Roberts and Loretta Stitt.

Thanks to Altius Senior Living and to Three Oaks Hospice and their teams for the care and comfort provided for Evelyn, and support for the family.
