Alma Lea Duffield, 89, of Frametown, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at home.

She was born July 17, 1935 in Braxton County a daughter of the late David and Sarah Friend Nicholas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Curtis Duffield; stepsons, Denvil Duffield and Randy Miller; brother, Ernest Nicholas; sisters, Faye Tucker, Ida Stout, Wilsie Cottrill, Alice Sawyers, Mary Duckworth and Betty Clowser.

Alma was a nurse’s aide for many years. She loved flower and vegetable gardening, reading books and working puzzles. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ruth Yarbrough (Jimmy); stepdaughter, Marta McCullough (Sam); stepson, Jeff Friend; brother, Charles Nicholas; grandchildren, Brian Facemire (Christie), Carl Mote III (Jennifer), Jolee McIlwain (Bo) and Tammy Casselman (Wesley); 10 great grandchildren ; 12 great- great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Hacker; brother-in-law, Carl Ray Duffield; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Ryan and Heather Roach for caring for Alma; and special thanks to the Loyd boys for opening and closing the grave; caregivers, Sherry Marks and Donna Shamblin for all their love; and her hospice workers for their compassionate care.

Alma’s funeral service will be noon, Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial will be in the Duffield Cemetery, Duck.

Visitation will be one hour prior the service at the funeral home.
