Mary “Evelyn” Deal, 80, of Rosedale passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Tesla on November 18, 1943, to the late Roy Tinney and Lena Muriel Turner Tinney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Jerry A. Deal; her first husband, Paul Ray Jackson; and her son, Jeremy A. Deal; brothers, Ernest Tinney, Mike Tinney, and Troy Tinney.

Evelyn was a caregiver for the elderly for many years. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the birds, eating BBQ, and singing classic country music. Often, she would tell funny stories from her past. Her favorite pastimes also included canning with Cindy and sharing ice cream with her special furry friend, Shady.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Pauline Belknap (Bill) of Flatwoods, Joe Jackson (Angel) of Frametown and Cindy Goodrich (Verner) of Rosedale; grandchildren, April, Melissa, Tonya, Chris, Beth, Maddy, Larry, and Catlynn; brothers Ralph Tinney (Wanda); and sisters, Agatha Cottrill and Brenda Everett (Bill).

She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Sierra, Courtney, Zach, Zander, Rachelle, Jalynn, Caleb, Seth, Meleeah, Paige, Tristan, Achilles, Wynter, Carson, Lillian, Charles, Avery, Amelia, and Ryker; and great great grandchildren, Crimson, Indigo and Hallie.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. on August 31, 2024 at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway.

Her Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 P.M. at the funeral home with Reverend Teddy Legg officiating.

In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes she was cremated.
