Mary Rosalie Nottingham, 92, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2024, at Clay Healthcare Center in Ivydale. She was born on August 18, 1932, in Elmira, WV to the late Hugh and Alice Cook Hall. She attended Gassaway High School and graduated in 1950.

Rosalie was a member of Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church, The Strange Creek Order of the Eastern Star, and the Braxton County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She worked alongside her late husband, Norman, in Nottingham’s Store in Duck from 1971 through 1991. Rosalie always felt her life’s calling was to be a good Christian, a good wife, and a good mother and grandmother. Surely those who knew her would agree that she excelled in all these roles.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Norman Edward Nottingham, and her sister, Agnes Slack.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois (Rocco) Milanese of Craigsville, WV and Brenda (Charles) Wright of New Martinsville, WV. She was a much-loved “Mamaw” to four grandchildren, Erica (Cory) Craft of Uniontown, PA, Alex (Alicia) Milanese of Craigsville, WV, Jared (Katie) Wright of New Martinsville, WV and Jennifer (Eric) Piekarski of Paden City, WV; and five great-grandchildren, Anthony and Joey Craft, Aubrey Milanese, and Oakley and Meadow Wright.

Rosalie loved to cook and bake and often contributed to church and community events in this way. She was legendary for her blackberry and raspberry jelly! She loved to go to church and would often remark that she had “never heard such a good sermon”. She looked forward to trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach with Norman in their camper, but her greatest joy was getting together with her family.

Her visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway, WV.

Her funeral will be held 11 A.M on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor JR Mullins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, WV.
