Tony Westfall, 67, of Sutton passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

He was born in Wadsworth, Ohio on September 25, 1956.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Westfall Sr.; mother, Della Mae Westfall; sister, Peggy Burnheimer; brotherly cousin, Wayne Westfall; granddaughter, Brenda Dyer; and daughter-in-law, Betty Westfall.

Tony was a proud West Virginia coal miner for over twenty-five years. His favorite pastime was fishing with his sons, Jeremy and Jason, grandson, Gabriel, brother, John “Tarzen” and cousin, Wayne Westfall. The important thing for Tony was not catching the fish but the time spent with the people he loved. He enjoyed camping preferably beside the water. This was a special time for Tony and Debbie.

He was a wonderful husband who always made the happiness of his wife, Debbie, his first priority. They shared fifty years of love together, and they were known as true soul mates.

After retiring he was most comfortable at home enjoying his family. He enjoyed canning and cooking with Debbie and helping prepare for get-togethers.

Tony attended Spruce Grove Community Church in Frametown and loved his church family and many visits from Pastor Ed and Donna Rollyson who baptized Tony at home.

Tony was a loving supportive Dad to his sons, Jeremy and Jason, and bonus children, Emily Westfall, Mindy Calderone, Sarah Sayres and Nathan Putnum. When he became Pappaw it opened yet another part of his heart to his grandchildren, Gabriel Westfall, India Henline, Brenda Dyer, Jillian Putnam, Amber Shamblin and later seventeen great grandchildren.

There are no words to describe how vitally important he was to his family or the amount of pain his absence will bring. We have lost a great man, a gentle soul and our Northern Star.

His constant companion, Gus, will miss him, as well as his wife, Debbie Posey Westfall. He is also survived by his sons, Jeremy Westfall of Sutton, and Jason Westfall and wife, Melodee, of Sutton; grandchildren, Gabriel Westfall of Sutton, India Henline and husband, Bryan, of Burnsville, Jullian Putnum and husband,

Matthew, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Amber Shamblin and husband, Jerry, of Charleston; siblings, John “Tarzen” Westfall, Jr. and wife, Kim, of Birch River, and Christal Rose, and husband, Vernon, of Wheeling, WV.

In keeping with Tony’s wishes he will be cremated.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton St., Gassaway, WV.

His memorial service will follow at 2 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Rollyson officiating.
