Bobby “Bob” Franklin Long, 76, of Gassaway, passed away June 19, 2016 at home.

He was born September 10, 1939 at Little Birch a son of the late Bailey Commodor and Erma Virginia Jackson Long.

Bob worked for Kenton Meadows Company for many years and later as a coal supervisor. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jo Long; sister, Doris Long.

Bob is survived by children, Kevin Long and wife, Kathy of Ohio, Karin Miller and husband, Brett of West Virginia and Kris Long and wife, Elyse of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kasey (Bryan) Smith, Bethany 9Zach) Frymier, Katelyn Miller, Kaylee Miller, Karlee Miller, Bailey Long, Lindsey Long, Jackson Long and Davis Long; great grandchild, Kayden Smith; sisters, Sherry Hoover, Shelby Bowyer, Debra Hutchinson and Kathy Collins.

Per Mr. Long’s request his body was cremated.

A memorial service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Brett Miller officiating.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the Gilmer County Elementary Playground Fund, 809 Medical Drive, Suite 1, Glenville, WV 26351.
