Gaylord “Lee” Hacker, 54, of Sutton passed away at home on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewis County, West Virginia on July 23, 1969 to Creda Hall Hacker of Gassaway and the late Shirlin Hacker.

Lee graduated from Braxton County High School. Right after high school he entered the military and during his service he fought in two wars, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Lee had 17 ½ years of combined military service in the Army and Army National Guard. When he returned home to Braxton County he worked for many years at Keener’s Carpet then later did contract work for Mountain Cap of WV. He enjoyed hunting in the woods and watching hunting shows. Lee was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Listening to country music and cooking for others were two of his favorite pastimes. He had many friends and never knew a stranger.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by, his sons, Zachary Jackson and Garrett Hacker; brother Gary Hacker; sister, Gloria Belknap; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Lee’s wishes he will be cremated. No services will be held.
