Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the German Church, Chapel with Pastor Rick Hart officiating.  Interment will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery, Chapel.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.

Genevieve Alice Tonkin Moore, 88, of Chapel passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Clay Healthcare Center, Big Otter surrounded by her family.

She was born in Gassaway on November 27, 1934 to the late Guy Percy Tonkin and Mary Alice Stine Tonkin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Dale Moore; granddaughter, Desiaree Moore; daughter, Mary Susan Moore; great grandson, Dusty William Mohr; and brothers, Charles Tonkin, Jim Tonkin, JoAnn Tonkin and Betty Tonkin Brannon.

Genevieve was also known as “Mommaw” by many. She was a member of the German church for 77 years.  She loved the Lord, her church and her family.  Her great grandbabies were her pride and joy. Mommaw and her husband raised a big garden. She was the canning guru and she  passed the art of canning down to her family.  She was well known for her delicious green beans.  Everyone enjoyed being around her and she will be deeply missed by all.

Genevieve will be forever remembered by her husband, Harold Moore; sons, Bill (Jeanie) Moore and Bobby (Donna) Moore; daughter, Pam (Kenny) Mohr; grandchildren, Melissa (Chad) Mick, Adam (Julie) Mohr, Daniel (Tiffany) Moore, and Sara (John) Wayne; great grandchildren, Hannah (Josh) White, Matt Mick, Grace Moore, JoyAnna Moore, Faith Moore, Whittley Mohr, Kalab Wayne and Michael Wayne; great-great grandson, Brantley White; siblings, William (Darlene) Tonkin, Robert (Jeanie) Tonkin, Norma (Phil) Binder, Barbara Argenio, Marge Friend, and Nancy Morrison; and, “sister-in-heart”, Wanda Moore.
