Derrah Gay Jarvis Woodrum, 83, of Duck passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at home.

She was born on February 27, 1940 in Braxton County to the late William Jarvis and Elsie Eagle Jarvis.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Chaney and her husband, James Chaney; grandchildren, Shannon and Jason; brothers, Junior, James, Joe, Tom, Ed and Dale; and long time companion, Ben Wymer.

Gay retired from the Ford Motor Company with 25 years of service.  She loved to paint. Gay also enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and shopping.  Going places to listen to Bluegrass music was one of her hobbies. She was a Christian by faith.

She will be forever remembered by her daughters, Shirley Woodrum-Jones of Duck and Crystal Lemieux and husband, James Sr., of Cleveland, OH; brothers, John Jarvis of Duck and Michael Jarvis of Hallsburg; grandchildren, Dawn, Ralph, Mike, Billy, Anna, Kimmy, James Jr., Angeni, and Michael; 30 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday, March 6 at the funeral home with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eagle Cemetery, Duck.
