Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Linn Schiefer officiating.

Interment with military rites will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Chapel.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Frederick G. Carpenter, 80, left us on February 17, 2022, at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Fred was born June 28, 1941, in Gassaway, WV to the late Hayward and Jessie Carpenter.

In addition to his parents,  Fred was preceded in death by first wife, Shirley Carpenter; brother Lloyd Carpenter; sisters, Nina (Carpenter) Mann, Beverly Jordan; daughter, Jessie Carpenter; and granddaughter Jessica Williams.

He Served in the Air Force and worked at Central Florida Antenna and A1 Key and Lock for 25 years.  His personal interests included reading his Bible, spending time with family, and playing cards. His favorite foods were fruitcake, summer sausage, cheese and sweets! He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members. His charm and smile brightened rooms as well as people’s lives.

Fred is survived by his ex-wife, Joyce Crowl; brothers, Hayward (Butch) Carpenter, and James Carpenter; sisters, Sandra Howells and Olive Carpenter; seven daughters and their spouses, Glenda and Gerry Carreras, Elizabeth and Thomas Crouch, Sandy Lapole, Julie and Jeremy Marlin, Shawn Crowl, Sherrie Crowl and Joyce Carpenter; a bundle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He spent his latest years in the company of his family and friends. Fred will be lovingly remembered and missed.
