John William Shaw, Sr., 75, of Sutton passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born October 14, 1946 at home in Sutton to the late Grant W. and Viola Blanch Linger Shaw.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Mae Shaw; sisters, Edna Shaw and Patricia Payne; and his brothers, David Duane Shaw and Jerry C. Shaw.

John was a retired steel worker who was a hardworking man that took care of his family.  He was a faithful member of Poplar Ridge Community Church.  He enjoyed to tinker and work on cars.  John liked to ride motorcycles and 4wheelers.  He had a big heart and would help anyone.  He was a dedicated father and husband.

He is survived by his children, John Shaw Jr. and wife, Rebecca,  Owen Shaw and wife, Joanna, and Lisa Clark and husband, Scott, all of Ohio; brothers, Russell Shaw and wife, Phoebe, of Barker Ridge, and Grant Shaw Jr. and wife, Phyllis, of Little Birch; sisters, Virginia Mae Johnson of Shaw Hollow, Emogene Payne of Shaw Hollow, and Elizabeth Utt of Sutton; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV with Reverend Russell Shaw officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shaw Family Cemetery, Bug Ridge, Sutton.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
