He was cremated and there will be no services.  A Celebration of his life will take place at his home on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

John “Honkey” Young, 77, of Newville, WV passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 after a short illness at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

He was born February 11, 1944 in Road Run, WV to the late Louie and Cleotia Young.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Glenda Shaver, Susie Justice and Burma Hamner.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Young; three brothers, Roy Young of Anchorage, Alaska, Brad Young of Weston, West Virginia and Jimmy Young of Doylestown, Ohio; two sisters, Linda Harrison of Chicago, Illinois and Catherine Sue Westfall of Port Washington, Ohio; two daughters, Sharry Woodford and Danny (Ding) Westfall of Sutton, West Virginia and Johnna Cable of Gassaway, West Virginia; two sons, Robert Greene of Walnut Creek, Ohio and John Young II and Crissy of Summersville, West Virginia; his same as daughter, most favorite niece, Tonya McCauley of Sutton; four grandsons, Eric, Kenny, Logan and Kaiden Cable; and three granddaughters, Destiny and Taylor Greene and Alyssa Young.  He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Honkey was a loving soul that loved to laugh and joke with everyone.  He loved to read, carve wood and fix or redo old things.  He loved the outdoors and playing with his dogs, Lena, Peanut and Sara Bell.  He will be loved and missed by the people that knew him and loved him.
