Verla Mae “Boots” McLaughlin, 96, of Frametown, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Braxton Health Care Center, Sutton, WV.

She was born April 2, 1925 in Gassaway at home to the late George Irving Patrick and Elva Josephine Perrine Patrick.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Chalk” McLaughlin; five brothers and four sisters.

Boots was a homemaker.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She liked to watch old Westerns on the television and she was also a storm watcher.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and quilting.  She was a member of the Hope Baptist Church and sang in the choir there also.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dee Phillips (Ken) of Frametown; brother, Dale “Punk” Patrick (Skinny) of Gassaway; sister, Claudine Dennison (John) of Gassaway; one granddaughter, Lesley Dawn Terry (Doug);  great grandchildren, Zachary Terry, “Rosebud” Terry, Sarah Terry and Michael Terry; sister-in-law, Caroline Patrick; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be private family services held with Rev. Rich Demastus officiating.
