Emma Rebecca “Becky” Gunter, 85, of Napier passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at the Genesis Marmet Center, Marmet, WV.

She was born June 21, 1935 in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Earl Waitman Underwood and Emma R. Hall Underwood.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Butch” Gunter; brothers, Harry Underwood and William Underwood; sisters, Margaret Mizell and Kathryn Lampe; and son-in-law, John Weddington.

Becky lived a wonderful life.  For many years she worked in a shoe factory.  She loved politics and was a Republican.  She worked as an election poll worker and also was a delegate for the Braxton County State Convention.  She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing BINGO. Becky was a WVU Mountaineer fan and enjoyed watching them play football and basketball.

She will be fondly remembered by her son, Tom Gunter and wife, Denise of Napier; daughter, Deborah Lee Weddington of Cross Lanes; and brother, Earl “Bud” Underwood of Gassaway.   Becky is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad Jenkins, Rebecca Weddington, Benjamin Weddington, Jacob Weddington, Jessiah Gunter, Hollie Vermessen and Jason Kincaid; 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid -19 there will be private family services with Pastor David Gunter officiating.  Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, WV.
