Susan A. Ramsey, 65, of Gassaway, passed away on October 26, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg.

She was born February 15, 1954 in Gassaway, a daughter of the late Bobby James and Ruth Barnette Short.

Susan was the former Operator and Owner of the Elk Lunch, in Gassaway.  She enjoyed flower gardening and walks outdoors.  She like to cook and bake.  She also loved reading history books.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Ramsey; granddaughter, MaChaela Keener; grandmother, Vina Morrison; brothers, Russell Carpenter and Michael Carpenter; and sister, Rosemary Carpenter.

Susan is survived by sons, Stacy E. Jirles and wife, Lisa, of Spencer, WV, Douglas Burk Duckworth and wife, Courtney, of Gassaway; daughter, Leslie Ann Ramsey of Gassaway; ex-husband, Dana Ramsey, Jr. of Gassaway; brother, Eugene Carpenter and wife, Jenny of Gassaway; sisters, Barbara Thompson and husband, Kevin, of Byesville, OH, Linda Oliver and husband, Joe, of Byesville, OH, Tina Hamrick and husband, Rocky, of Gassaway, and Tracy Brown of Gassaway; 16 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes she will be cremated.  There will be a private family service at a later date.
