Erma V. Barker Nicholson, 89, of Copen, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Glenville Center Nursing Home.

She was born May 28, 1930  in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Louis Barker and Elsie Stonestreet Barker.

For most of Erma’s life she was a caretaker of others and a homemaker.  She enjoyed watching TV and her favorite show was Gunsmoke.  In her spare time she did word search puzzles and coloring pages.  She enjoyed going out to eat.  Erma was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, Copen.  She loved visiting with family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Worley L. Nicholson whom she married in 1980; stepson, Gerald L. Nicholson; sister, Clara Barker; brothers, Charles Barker, Walter Barker and Marshall Barker; and nephew, David Barker.

Erma is survived by sisters, Lucille Williams of Danville, IL and Marjorie Barker, a resident of Braxton Healthcare Center, Sutton; stepdaughters, Janet L. Schindler and husband, Bill, of Parkersburg, and Ruth A. Huffman of Cedarville; seven step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Cofer “Bud” Cochran officiating.  Interment will be in the Rutherford Cemetery, Cedarville.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
