Gloria Angela O’Brien, of Gassaway, passed away on November 23, 2018 in Charleston, WV after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was born July 14, 1949 in St. Agatha, Maine to Donald and Aline Paradis Marquis.  She was a graduate of Wisdom High School.

To be in her inner circle of friends and family you knew you were loved deeply.  She loved her family above all.  Always wanting to feed you and make you feel welcome.  She would do anything to help someone in need.  She was very proud of her strong daughters and cherished her grandson whom she always called her miracle baby.  She enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together to find out how things worked.

She met the love of her life, James W. O’Brien and instantly knew he was the one.  They married on June 21, 1968 in Frenchville, Maine.  Even when she forgot most, she never forgot her loving husband.  He was always her constant companion to the end.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Marquis; brother, Peter Marquis; and sister, Paula Marquis.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, James O’Brien, Gloria is survived by her daughter, Peggy Curtis and husband, John and daughter, Amy O’Brien; grandson, William Curtis; mother, Aline Marquis; four sisters; four brothers; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Gloria’s wishes she will be cremated and a private inurnment will be held at a later date.
