Enid Ruth Mowery, 80, of Gassaway, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017 at her home.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Effie Young Nicholas; sister, Loma Young; son-in-law, Ronnie Radcliff. Ruth was the last surviving member of her family.

Ruth decided in December 2016 at the age of 80 it was time to retire. Prior to retiring, she worked as a dispatcher for the Gassaway Police Dept. She also worked for the Braxton County Senior Center as a van driver for 18 years and as a senior companion.

She is survived by her children, Aaron Nottingham of Gassaway, Sharon Nottingham of Nebo, Gary Nottingham (Jennifer) of Champaign, IL, Susie Radcliff of Gassaway, Bill Mowery (Denise) of Gassaway, Ruth Ann Poling (Randy) of North Dinwiddie, VA, Phyllis Long (David) of Tesla and Helen Nicholson (Dallas) of Gassaway; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; special niece, Dee Smith, who was like a sister.

The family would like to thank WV Caring Hospice for their support during this difficult time.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Harold “Shorty” Greenleaf officiating. Interment will be in the Nicholas Family Cemetery, Lower Sleith.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
