Wilburn “Gene” McCumbers, 76, of Sutton, passed away December 13, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born September 17, 1940 in Wirt County a son of the late Noah Scott and Mary E. Starcher McCumbers.

Gene worked in manufacturing and was a timberman. He loved hunting, fishing, and bluegrass music.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Hall McCumbers; daughter, Camie M Dolan and husband, Timothy of Wichita, KS; sons, David G. McCumbers and wife, Julie of Wichita, KS and Delbert “Scott’ McCumbers and wife, Christy of Scarbro; grandchildren, Tiffany McCumbers of Glenville, Samantha McCumbers of Wichita, KS, Meagan McCumbers of Wichita, KS, Hannah McCumbers of Wichita, KS, Cody Hylton of Fayetteville and Chazz Hylton of Fayetteville; great grandchild, Da’Shawn Henry of Frametown ; brothers, Willard McCumbers of Panama City, FL, Gary McCumbers of Nicut, Charles McCumbers of Frametown, Paul McCumbers of Gassaway, Ricky McCumbers of Clay, Clarence McCumbers of Akron, OH and Roy McCumbers of Chapel; sister, Betty McCumbers of Gassaway;

Gene was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Brown McCumbers; brothers, William, Donald, Willie and Robert; sister, Wilma McCumbers.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Rick Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Bender Run Cemetery, Chapel.
