Charles “Charlie” Jason Lancaster, 80, of Strange Creek passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

He was born on June 24, 1946, in Gassaway to the late Leslie Earl and Mamie Lorene Frame Lancaster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Lancaster, Blaine Lancaster, Bob Lancaster, and Bill Lancaster.

Charlie loved his family. Throughout his life, he worked as a mechanic and took great pride in his work as a welder. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He enjoyed reading science fiction, gardening, and working the land on his farm. A gifted storyteller, he could blend truth with imagination so seamlessly that every tale sounded believable. Charlie was an avid golfer and was looking forward to this year’s WVU Football season. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Erica Whitney, and husband, Tim, of Strange Creek; sons, Dr. Chad Lancaster and wife, Kristi, of Gassaway, and Joel Lancaster of Frametown; grandchildren, Luke Whitney and wife, Kelsey, David Malcomb, Charles “Caleb” Whitney and wife, Danae, Jacob Whitney, Nathan Whitney and fiancé, Cheyenne, Gracie Duffield and husband, Dalton, Cade Lancaster; great grandchildren, Ava Whitney and Ford Duffield; sister, Susie Green; brothers, Riley “Butch” Lancaster and wife, Linda, Jack Lancaster and wife, Judy, and Fred Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie’s visitation will be 11 A.M. to 12 Noon, Friday, September 4, 2026, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway.

Private Interment will follow in the Strange Creek Church Cemetery, Strange Creek.
