A sister-in-law I never got to know. I tried once but she said she did not know me and for me to go on and have a blessed day. Those understanding and kind words will be all I ever have; leaving a void here at the “End Of The Word”. I wish her well on her new journey; “Fair Winds and Following Seas”. And to my new nephew whom I also don’t know, the door is always open “Just walk thru it” and the new adventure begins

Time and distance do not erase memories. Looking over some old black and white photos, there is Kare. She is about five or six years old, standing at Hyer Cemetery on Decoration day a halo of brown hair, freckles across her nose, eyes squinting into sun, a look of determination in her eyes. A few years later and a poloroid shows her holding her infant son, Ben. Letters and a photo album sent to her nephew, Alex describing a train wreck at End of the World and plans for his trip to visit in summer. Note about Ben graduating from College, no picture, but pride in her son evident. The saddest photo was taken with the five of us after our brother, Jerry Alan died. Karen is almost unchanged, eyes clear and same determination. Families differ but memories of love and affection are within us, time and separation cannot erase them. Rest In Peace, Karen. Your sister, Joyce
