Thomas Chaffins, Sr., 73, of Sutton, passed away December 21, 2019 at home.

He was born February 23, 1946 in Williamson, WV a son of the late Trinnel Chaffins and Gladys Workman Chaffins.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Thomas was a retired coal miner with 35 years of service in his profession.  He was a Vietnam Army Veteran.  He loved hunting in the woods, fishing on the boat, and going to and watching NASCAR.  He was a Baptist by faith.  Thomas was one of 20 children in his large family.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Utt Chaffins; sons, Thomas Chaffins, Jr and wife, AnnMarie, of Martinsburg, WV, Jerry Weese and wife, Tina also of Martinsburg, WV; daughter Christina Dean and husband, Emery, of Sutton, and Nancy Lynn Chaffins; grandchildren, Tommy Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeffrey Chaffins, Heaven Dean, and Emery Dean, Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be 1 P.M.  Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Russell Shaw officiating.  Interment will be in the Barker Ridge Cemetery, Sutton.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
