Robert Jerome Bourn, aged 91, passed away on April 17, 2025 at the Glenville Health & Rehabilitation Nursing Home located in Glenville, WV. Robert suffered multiple medical issues over the past year and, especially, over the past ten months after the passing of his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Joy Moyers Bourn on May 31, 2024.

Born on August 29, 1933, Robert was the eldest of five children of the late Ormand Jerome “O.J.” Bourn and the late Beatrice Swisher Bourn of Rosedale, WV.

He was a 1952 graduate of Gassaway High School where he played basketball. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the Navy and served two years during the Suez Crisis of 1956-1957.

Robert married Marjorie Joy Moyers of Perkins, WV on July 18, 1959. Robert farmed the 1200-acre family farm, Homeland Stock Farm, with his father Jerome, and then later with his son, Scott. He raised purebred Charolais cattle, hogs, and sheep. He also timbered at various times. In his later years he raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese. His hobbies included working jigsaw puzzles and bird watching.

Robert was never far from his tractor and most pictures from a young age show him with a dog or some other animal. He especially enjoyed raking hay, brush hogging, and skidding logs. He was a long-time member of the WV Farm Bureau.

Robert was a member of the Braxton County Board of Education for eleven years. He and Joy were also members of the Rosedale Baptist Church since childhood and faithfully served the Lord, committed to their church and family. They set an example through their hard work, perseverance through adversity, and lived their lives based on Biblical principles that was evident to their children and everyone that knew them.

Robert is survived by four children – Robert Byron Bourn of Findlay, OH and Rosedale, WV; Beatrice Bourn Seibert (Stephen, deceased) of Rosedale, WV; Scott Jerome Bourn (Robin) of Rosedale, WV; and Rella Bourn Cvetican (Ron) of Sutton, WV.
